Confused by splitters? Here's a helpful PDF document that we made that outlines the uses of USB Splitter Cables Link: USB Splitter Cables-web2.pdf The Original USB Splitter Cable Before there were others out there, we saw the need and brought this to you. It was recommended by Tony, our server guy at the time. He had grown frustrated of having to keep plugging in the keyboard and mouse behind servers that he was working on when his other customers didn't have a switchbox. He asked if we could build a splitter cable. We did, and this is what we came up with. It's been more popular than what we thought it would have been, and we also found that it's great for our product development customers who need to easily split a USB port without having to put something cheap into their device. This is a compact USB 2.0 splitter. You can connect two USB 2.0 devices to a single port with this. It's very handy if you need to split a USB connection to connect a keyboard and mouse, but only have one port available. As per our original design, we use this on one of our servers to make the ports on the back more accessible. The small 6 inch cable makes it easy to access those ports that simply aren't easy to get to. Ultra slim design At 6 inches, it's easy to carry in your pocket, or keep in your laptop bag, without a lot of excess wire that you really don't need. It's the most compact splitter cable on the market. It's also ideal for small spaces that don't want to have a large 2 piece hub that could break apart easily. Our commercial grade design, that features an IC chip that's overmolded with PVC is great for long-life durability without frustration. 2 Devices to 1 Computer This device is only able to connect a host device (ie, computer) to 2 devices (ie, keyboard, mouse, card reader, etc.). It cannot work in the reverse, such as 2 computers to 1 device since it has electronic components installed. For those, we recommend a USB switchbox, which we do not sell - however, they are widely available. Try looking up "USB switchbox" or "USB auto switch". Here's a handy blog that we wrote about the differences between USB splitters and USB switchboxes: http://usbandfirewirecables.blogspot.com/2015/10/usb-splitter-cables-there-is-lot-of.html
